This week’s cast is about chick flicks. Matt and Ben discuss the definition of what makes a chick flick. Secure in their sexuality (and in Matt’s case, his inner soccer mom), we will plumb the depths of a genre most men are terrified from.
Sandra Bullocks? Yeah, we discuss her. Titanic? Yeah, we sink that ship quickly. Braveheart? Yeah, we…wait, what? Braveheart is on this list!? What is Ben smoking??? Anyway, this podcast is strong enough for a man, but PH balanced for the ladies, and has been known to act as an aphrodisiac combining the powers of Ikawe, Dong Quai and Barry White.
So sit back and relax listening to soothing sounds of Ben, Matt and William Wallace in this week’s edition of THE NEW WAY PODCAST WITH BEN AND MATT!

Okay lads, I had to stop half through the podcast and comment because:
A) Ben put 3 period piece adaptations of quintessential female novels on his list. Those should not count at all as chick flicks because it just feels like you're cheating by breaking some sort of chick flick list rule. I will allow Jane Eye on the list because it hasn't been adapted five million times.
B) Seriously, Matt? Jane Eyre was written by Charlotte Bronte, not Jane Austen. But I really wanna hear your rant against all things Jane Austen then put you in a room with one of my friends, who is a lit major and Austen enthusiast. 😉
Carry on…
Lol John. I realized my Bronte/Austen mixup after we recorded. Heat of the moment. As for your Austen aficionado, warn them that the last time I was in a room with a Pride and Prejudice lover, it was my honors lit teacher at Ohio State. I convinced her that the youngest daughter was a lesbian because, and I quote, “she always had her nose in a book and that's clearly a reverse phallic symbol for a vagina.” The Austenophile nearly broke into tears marveling at my insight. Meanwhile, I thought the book was yet another attempt to romanticize fake romance via a group of daughters with little to no personality who all felt entitled to love, yet still went for the wrong men. End rant. :)Sent from my iPhone
haha! Damn, my friend would murder you. But I agree. I could never get through P&P, but oddly I did enjoy the Matthew Mcfayden film adaptation with Kiera. Say what you want about the Brontes but I loooove Wuthering Heights and I would argue it's an erotic thriller.
True story, I saw the Princess Diaries in the theater opening weekend and bought the soundtrack. No shame. Mandy Moore was in it and I adore her.
And I can't believe you guys didn't have Sex and the City 1, 2, (and was there a 3rd?) on your lists. I was dragged to the first one and actually wept a little at the end. I mean, they're terrible, but the show and the movies have a female religious following.
That's because ours was about good chick flicks. :)Sent from my iPhone
